Things To Know about the Trail

Escape Trails ... All the Beaches have a trail off the beach that will take you up to the highway between Jordan River and Port Renfrew.

Mystic Beach: There is trail up to the highway at the west(middle) end of the beach beside the bear caches. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the highway on this trail.

Bear Beach: Bear Beach is a long beach ... 2 kilometers. There is a trail to the highway just east of Clinch Creek. Clinch Creeks comes on to the beach just west of the middle of the beach. The trail goes up a hillside then through the forest and on to an old logging road. When you reach the road turn to the left and its about a 15 min. walk to the highway. From the beach out its about 40 mins. The trail on the beach is often marked with a fishing float hanging from a tree branch. Written on the float may be W C Road. This means West Coast Road.

Chin Beach: There is a creek that crosses the beach about half way down Chin Breach. At the mouth of the creek (East Side) there is a trail that will take you to the highway. As you start up the trail just off the beach you will pass a steel pole bear cache. The trail follows an elevation for almost a kilometer then enters the forest for almost another kilometer and comes out on to the highway. It is about a 50 min. hike to the highway.

Loss Creek Suspension Bridge: On the east side of the bridge (JDF Trail Head side) just before the bridge, there is a trail (away from the ocean). About a 25 min. walk up a side hill to an old logging road ... stay on the road going away from the water for about another 15 min. to the highway. About 40 min. from the bridge to the highway.

Sombrio Beach: About 10 min. walk to the parking lot off the main beach just before the east side of the Sombrio River suspension bridge. From the parking lot its about a 1.5 kilometer walk to the highway. It's usually easy to catch a ride with someone from the parking lot at Sombrio.

Little Kuitshe Creek Campground. There is not a forest trail out from here. You would have to back track to Sombrio or hike to Parkinson Parking lot. Its 4 kilometers to Parkinson from Kuitshe and the same back to Sombrio. From Parkinson there is a 4 kilometer gravel road to the highway. Very little traffic in and out of Parkinson.

Parkinson Parking lot: From Parkinson there is a 4 kilometer gravel road to the highway. Very little traffic in and out of Parkinson.

Paysant Creek Camp Ground: The quickest way out would be to hike 3 kilometers to Parkinson Parking lot. From Parkinson there is a 4 kilometer gravel road to the highway. Very little traffic in and out of Parkinson.
